Resolutions

I am not one to make New Year’s resolutions, but today I am making an exception.

It’s because my mind is filled with "things to do" in the ’09.

I am serious about being a singer.  This is not just a little something to do, now that I recognize there is some legitmate talent here.

Last year, I made Jazz the thing.  It was expected really at the Rat Pack Lounge. I "get" that.  My intention, as I have mentioned in previous posts, is to bring some new artists into my repetoire.    I have played around with a few tunes, but I’ve not finessed any of the songs I’ve selected.  That will change.

Further, I’ve done some vocal exercise work, but not formally– not with a professional coach in a really long time.

I’ve taken steps to change that.  I have made a connection with a professor at Shaw Univeristy in Raleigh.  She has agreed to work with me on the campus next year.  I am excited to meet her in person.

One more thing before I move on:  Demo tape.  I don’t have one. I should have one.   I have a great friend at Osceola Studios in Raleigh.  He knows exactly how to get ‘er done.  Producing a demo tape is a big step to me, and I must admit I am somewhat intimidated by the process.

I could use some encouragement, or maybe just a kick in the butt. Your girl’s got to make it happen.

Somehow putting all these intentions out there in the atmosphere, I feel, will give me the push I need.

Happy New Year everyone!!!
