Order On The Cover, Order On The Cover

“If you believe it will work out, you’ll see opportunities.  If you believe it won’t you will see obstacles.”– Wayne Dyer

Thank goodness it is a woman’s perrogative to change her mind.

Bobby, the poor man who is in charge of designing my CD cover has to put up with my ignorance and complaints about this little thing and that.  He is a patient soul, always tells me it’s okay,  and reassures me that next time around I’ll be a pro at this thing.  There was a guffaw there.  You just couldn’t hear it people.

I just wanted today to say a thing or two about the order of songs on a album.  The project manager at discmakers has had to change mine 3 times. Oh dear, right?

The first time around,  I listed the eight songs in the order that I loved them.  Then I sent an email to Bobby. Done and done.   That’s what I thought.

But you see on the final night of “listening” to the full mix at Osceola recording studios, the engineeer master turned it all around… telling me that “Besame Mucho”  was my best song on the CD…  that I should definitely go with that one first . Hmmm.. an expert’s opinion.

I ended up changing my list.  The songs were as follows just so you know and can see it:  BESAME MUCHO, CALIFORNIA DREAMIN’, FEVER, PEEL ME A GRAPE, AS TIME GOES BY, CHEEK TO CHEEK, CRY ME A RIVER, AND FLY ME TO THE MOON.

Bobby told me not to worry.  It was not a problem.   I was good to go.  Until the very next day!

My publicist took my final music mix CD to some of her “friends” in the business with a different and more reasoned point of view.

Then, she unpacked what she had learned.  Among their recommendations:  Start strong with an upbeat and familiar tune with strong vocals that set the stage for my overall style.  “Besame Mucho” hardly fits that bill, right?  The “experts” said that should go in the middle.

Also mentioned: Work your way into an “OMG,  I have goosebumps song !”… with spot on vocals that might become my signature song.  Their decision: As Time Goes By. It’s all now making sense to me.

Something else cited that I like: Finish on a dominant familiar song with hot vocals and is memorable. Fly Me To the Moon’s not bad.  They had a better idea. “Cry Me A River”.  I’m totally good with that.

All that being said (drum roll):  Here is the order of songs  for “The Full Measure of a Woman”:

1.  Fever

2.  Cheek To Cheek

3.  Fly Me to the Moon

4.  As Time Goes By

5.  Besame Mucho

6.  California Dreamin’

7.  Peel Me A Grape

8.  Cry Me A River

I’ll be contacting Bobby on Monday with the new line-up.  I mean the man should enjoy his weekend in peace.

Onward + Upward!!!
