A Blog Before Singing..

In about two hours time, I will be at the Metro Lounge + Cafe for storySPARK.

It’s that affair I’ve been waiting for months to come to fruition.  This is it.  Tonight’s the night.

I spent a uber lazy Saturday, waiting for the night.  I was both a couch potato and a mouse potato.

Now, the moment is almost here.  It’s exciting.  There is a set program for this night of “Readings”.  I mean, all the names of the artists who will be performing are posted, along with what these story tellers will tell.  That’s about it, though.  We’re making up the rest.  I will walk into this venue, not really knowing how the night is going to turn out.  That “unknown” aspect is what makes it so thrilling and magical.

My songs are all downloaded on to my i-pod.  I’ve changed the order a few times, but I like all of the tunes I’ve selected. I enjoy performing them.

The dress code is pretty relaxed, so I don’t have to concern myself with the demands of Diva-dom.  It’s not that kind of party. But there will be Red Stilettos. A girl’s got to do what a gurrl’s got to do folks!

The Metro is a pretty small establishment in historic City Market, and the turnout tonight is also one of those fun “unknowns.”

If I am honest with myself (and I will be here)… I feel a little down, because some of the good friends I invited to support me tonight are not sure that they can come.  Their uncertainty makes me wonder if they love our relationship as much as I do.  I am often not the one who comes up with the “entertainment” for our social calendar, but I am almost always open to their suggestions, and I go with them.  My suggestions have been few and far between, and so I expected that if I put something out there for us to do, that they’d readily agree to do them.  Those feelings are playing in the background of my mind tonight, but they won’t impact what I do when I touch the stage.  That’s where my passion lives and loves to be unleashed.

It’s going to be a great night.  Of that I am certain.
