Setbacks

This has been a devastating week what with the massacre at Virginia Tech, and the horrific explosions in Bagdad.

To tell you the truth, I was looking forward to an opportunity to shift my thinking and my focus, if only for a few hours. I needed a break!

I was hoping to go into the vocal booth and record a few songs that would appear on my website for you to hear. HOPING. My very good friends Mike and Yasmin own a company with a recording studio. We’ve been talking about songs I’ve selected and getting it done.

I selected The Girl from Impanema and Misty. The arrangement that I downloaded from a website that offers licensed backing tracks for vocalists is quite good. I have been practicing all week and now feel comfortable with the material. I was ready to record my songs.

That sense of excitment evaporated when I received word that I’d have to wait until the end of the month. My friends had too many things going on and didn’t see any daylight in their schedules really until then.

Now what?

Well, I have decided that I could sit and wait, or try something else. I am trying something else. I don’t like the feeling of being stopped.

Yesterday, I reached out to a talented producer Dick Hodgin in Raleigh who owns Osceola Studios. My intention is to schedule a short session there whenever he can make the time available. Stay tuned.

One thing’s for sure about this musical journey of mine.. I am continuuing to learn and grow every day.
